Copper Study

This project explores the transformative nature of copper through three distinct patination methods—brownish oxidation, flame treatment, and blue patina—each revealing copper's responsiveness to its environment. More than mere surface treatments, these patinas document the material's life cycle, acting as a visual record of the chemical interactions, atmospheric conditions, and time itself. The variations in color and texture reflect everything surrounding the copper: the air it breathes, the elements it encounters, and the forces applied to it. In this way, the patina becomes a kind of material memory, a testament to copper's living relationship with its context, where each hue tells a story of transformation and the ongoing dialogue between material and environment.
