Msherib Chair

Msheireb Chair is a sculptural seat designed to bridge contemporary design and vernacular architectural language through thoughtful materiality and form. Crafted from wood and travertine, the chair draws inspiration from the architectural vocabulary of Msheireb Downtown Doha—a district where traditional Qatari spatial principles meet modern urbanism. The combination of warm wood and cool stone creates a dialogue between organic craft and monumental building materials, echoing the textural richness found throughout Msheireb's built environment. This design approach translates the scale and presence of architecture into an intimate, functional object—condensing the experience of place into something that can be sat upon, touched, and inhabited within domestic space. The chair's form reflects both the clean lines of contemporary design and the grounded, enduring qualities of vernacular construction, creating a piece that feels simultaneously of its moment and rooted in cultural memory. Together, tradition and modernity intertwine, offering a seat that elevates everyday rest into a material meditation on how we build, dwell, and belong within the spaces that shape us.
